December 2012

Mardi has foaled an outstanding liver chestnut colt with heaps of bling by Royal Hit – 10 days early but all was well! Spider (what else could I call him with those incredibly loooong legs) is just the cutest of foals, I can hardly stop watching his antics and he loves to be admired….

Satisfaction and Callista are getting close to their due dates but still appear to be a fair way from foaling, I am looking forward to these babies being safely on the ground – must have patience grasshopper.....

Ellie Jacks and Elversace were recently announced as winners of the HRCAV Saddle Up Top Ten award for dressage and there is nice article on them in the November HRCAV Chaff Chat magazine.

They have also been busy competing over the last few months, obtaining some good results at advanced level and also performing their first PSG level test in the Aachen Challenge at the Victorian Dressage Festival. Congratulations Ellie.

Ellie reports that Renaissance is progressing well in his training. She sent me some pictures of Renaissance training at home.

October 2012

Its been a busy month on the sales front!

Furst Wizard has been sold to Sarah in Queensland to be her next dressage star and also to stand as a breeding stallion. Congratulations to Sarah on her astute purchase of Wizard and her ability to recognise his potential even under layers of winter fluff....

Remembrance was also sold this month to talented local rider and instructor, Tanya. Remembrance stole Tanya’s heart with his beautiful kind eye and friendly, cheeky character and will soon be started under saddle.

September 2012

Rockefeller is now in work with local rider, Tanya, and his training is coming along beautifully. He is maturing nicely and Tanya reports that he is a really enjoyable riding horse that would suit a rider looking for a smaller horse with excellent paces and sensible temperament. He’s ready to compete further and have fun with in almost any discipline.

June 2012

I recently paid a visit to Ellie Jacks and her parents at their property in Victoria to see the beautiful Elversace (Cadence Park Reflections) being ridden. The quality of work he demonstrated was lovely to watch and it is wonderful to see the bond he has developed with Ellie. Following on from this visit I was very happy to offer Cadence Park Renaissance to Ellie to train and compete on a long-term sponsorship basis. Renaissance will have a great future being ridden by Ellie and representing Cadence Park in the coming years – both Ellie and I are very excited about this opportunity.

February 2012

Finally another pregnancy to announce – Satisfaction is in foal to the exceptional young Fidermark stallion, Fiderstern and I’m very much looking forward to seeing the result of this mating! For information on Fiderstern please follow this link to the Bloomfield website http://www.bloomfieldfarm.com.au/Fiderstern.html

I received a great update on Elversace (Cadence Park Reflections) from his owners and the excellent news that he is going from strength to strength, having won his class at Melbourne Royal Show and also just done his first Medium level test and won it with an excellent score – my congratulations go to Ellie.

January 2012

This year has been a difficult breeding season with the unpredictable weather playing havoc on the mare’s cycles. We have only one pregnancy to date – that is Mardi Gras in foal to Royal Hit.

December 2011

Mardi has foaled a lovely strong bay colt by Furst Love – right on her due date! Gentleman George is a delightful foal, incredibly friendly and just loves scratchies….

Callista has foaled a huge bay colt by Furst Love – nearly weeks early, but all was well and handsome Harry was on his feet and drinking very quickly. He is almost a carbon copy of George. He has been named Harry because of the similarity of his lightning bolt shaped star to another famous Harry (of the Potter variety).

Some bad news this month tho – Ellusion has slipped her foal to Royal Hit – being a breeder sure has its ups and downs…

August 2011

I am really pleased to have been contacted by the lovely new owners of Cadence Park Reflections, now known as Elversace. He is living in the lap of luxury in country Victoria and is competing successfully in dressage with his talented young rider, Ellie Jacks. She has done a wonderful job training him and they have developed a very special bond. They tell me that he is just the most beautiful horse they have ever seen and have invited me to visit him next time I get to Victoria.

June 2011

Rocky had a holiday this month.

Renaissance is going beautifully – he is showing a much greater level of maturity and strength under saddle after his rest break and is just about ready to start taking out to competitions. He really is such a gorgeous horse, in temperament as well as looks…. we cant wait to get him out and about.

I headed off to Victoria this month to do the AI course offered by Goulburn Valley Equestrian Hospital. It was certainly an information-packed week and we learnt a tremendous amount from the guru of horse breeding techniques – Dr Angus McKinnon.

May 2011

I'm really pleased with Rocky’s performances this month!

As he matures and increases his strength and balance under saddle, his dressage work is becoming something really special. He is so naturally engaged and talented that we have to be careful not to ask too much of him too soon.

His only outing this month saw him competing at preliminary level for the first time and terrific scores of 68% and 75% - pretty darned pleased all round!

April 2011

Rocky has continued to go from strength to strength at local competitions.

In March he won a Champion and Reserve at his first ever show, as well as numerous placings against much more mature horses. The judge commented that she would just love to take him home with her and that she couldn’t believe it was his first show.

There was another successful show outing for Rocky in April – with some great results in the Show Hunter and Warmblood classes. His dressage scores also continue to improve and more ribbons came his way.

Some sale news as well this month – Regalia has been sold to a fabulous home in my local area. I am looking forward to visiting him and watching him grow from a huge gangly weanling into a stunning riding horse.

February 2011

Cadence Park Rockefeller (Rocky) has started his competition career! He went off to his first ever competition and managed to stay sane and inside the arena, despite looking absolutely gob-smacked at all the activity and horses around him. I was thrilled with how well he coped with all the new experiences (including being loaded on the float in the rain and pitch dark at 5.30am) and we even managed to come home with a ribbon –  definitely an unexpected bonus for his first time out!

I received a lovely email from Pharoah’s new owner this month, she is having a fabulous time with him.

Pharaoh is a very sensitive, willing horse and, for me, he feels so good to ride.  The quality of his handling and starting is really evident in that there hasn't been a trace of fear in him. He has a wonderful temperament and as a young horse just newly under saddle has never caused me a moment's worry.  He learns so quickly – once he understands what you want he is always willing to please and give you what you are asking.  He has also fitted right in with our other horses.

So in short he is calm, sensitive, willing, trainable, funny and immensely lovable. I can't thank you enough for breeding this horse!! Or Jana for starting him so well. And I am very much looking forward to going out to competitions and other activities
later this year and really having fun with him.”

Feedback like this is the ultimate reward for a breeder, it makes all the hard work, money and patience that goes into breeding and training these performance horses worthwhile – Thanks Georgina!

January 2011

Ellie has had her foal too! Watercolours (or Wanda) our picture perfect filly, was born at midday  - what is going on with all these daytime foalings this year?? All 3 of my foals were born in daytime and our neighbours had the same experience……. Tis odd but good for the sleep pattern!

Wanda is a healthy, strong foal, like all of Ellie’s foals, and was up and around within 10 minutes of the birth and hasn’t stopped running her overprotective Mum ragged since!

Please go to the Foals pages for more pics and information on this years babies.

December 2010

Raindancer has been sold to an excellent competition home in Bringelly – Congratulations to his new owner, Wendy.

He travelled well, despite being almost too big for the truck! He has settled into his luxurious new accommodation very happily. I’m looking forward to updates on the progress of the big fella.

Mardi finally had her foal at the end of November. She presented us with a big, healthy and gorgeous chestnut filly by Ferrero Rocher. Floriana is the absolute image of her sire and is going to be retained by the stud. She is the first filly that has resulted from our AI program (after a run of nine colts) and I’m absolutely thrilled with her.

Callista has also had her foal! Its always a bit of a worry with maiden mares, but she popped him out nearly 3 weeks early with no problems at all. I am calling him Fabio for his paddock name, as he’s the horse equivalent of the most handsome (but not exactly the cleverest) man in the world. He is a big strong foal and was too tall to work out how to drink very easily but lots of perseverance from us and his dam, who had the patience of a saint, finally got him on the right track.

November 2010

Pharoah has been sold to a wonderful competition home in Sydney – Congratulations to his new owner, Georgina.

She reports that he travelled beautifully and has settled in with his new friends with no dramas. We look forward to ongoing reports on his progress – I foresee many good competitions in their future together.

Still no foals on the ground for us. Mardi is now over 3 weeks overdue and even though the vet said all appears well and just to be patient, I’m getting concerned…
